With the emergence of so many types of edibles, it's only a natural progression into the food that we eat.

If you enjoy cannabis, then it makes sense that you would want to incorporate cannabis into your food and drinks! Let’s check out some of the different types of cannabis and how people are creating their own delicious cannabis edibles!

Create with Ease

With the emergence of so many types of edibles, it's only a natural progression into the food from recreational marijuana. One of the most exciting aspects of cannabis is how versatile it is. You can smoke it, vape it, vape cannabis oil, apply it as a tincture or cream and ingest it as even a chocolate edible. While each has its own benefits, we’re going to be talking about cooking with cannabis, how you can make your own edibles and what are some of the different strains of cannabis that are available.

Making your own cannabis edibles isn’t as easy as you may think, but it’s not out of reach for beginners. It will take a little bit of time and research, but once you master it, you’ll be surprised just what sort of cannabis edibles you can make! There are thousands of great guides online which will get into the specifics of making your own edibles and what to avoid. Believe it or not, you just can’t throw buds in a cake mix and get edibles!

When you ingest cannabis, it’s broken down and processed by the body differently compared to when you smoke it or vape it. The associated high is completely different, with much more of a body high. It’s also a slower and longer-lasting process, so take it easy with cannabis edibles when you’re first starting out!

Different Types of Cannabis for Edibles! – Indica Strains Versus Sativa Strains of Cannabis.

There are different things which can affect your high when you use edibles. Things like your weight, metabolism, the strength of the edibles, what you’ve been eating and even your tolerance. Which strain you use to make your edibles also plays a big part in determining what your high is going to be like.

Traditional thought is that Sativa strains give you an energetic or uplifting high, while Indica strains are relaxing and soothing. Much like taking a sedative. This is reasonably accurate for smoking cannabis, but with edibles, it can be a bit of a gamble. Our bodies do some strange things!

Homemade Edibles Versus Store Edibles

When you make your own edibles, the potency can vary quite a lot between different pieces of a cake or different cookies for example. Using lower percentage THC is a great way to practice making edibles until you get your technique down.

Store bought edibles are much more consistent in their dosages, and it’s a lot easier to gauge how you’re going to react when you can eat gummies or candies that have a specific dosage.
